How do we backup the nodes running openvz ?

Shall we backup

/vz/private or /vz/root
and
/etc/sysconfig/vz-scripts
?
Or we do need to backup
/vz/template/cache too?
because we found that sometimes when we restore it gives error wrong template etc

Thanks

You should pause/take a snapshot of the /vz partition, and then backup /vz/private/<ctid>

/vz/root is a mount of /vz/private

Then backup /etc/vz/conf/<ctid>.conf, as this contains the VPS configuration data.

Hi,

btw: if any ActionScripts are used, please backup

/etc/vz/conf/<CTID>.(conf|mount|start|stop|umount)

<CTID>.conf - configuration file
<CTID>.mount - mount script
<CTID>.start - start -"-
<CTID>.stop - stop -"-
<CTID>.umount - umount -"-

More Info about ActionScripts can be found in the UserGuide (-> http://download.openvz.org/doc/OpenVZ-Users-Guide.pdf ), page 88ff.

Bye,
Thorsten
