When I send "shutdown -r now" or "reboot" to my openvz guests, they simply shutdown- I have to run vzctl start to get them running again. Is this normal behaviour? I'm running the same build of CentOS (5.3) on both the host and guests.

Thanks!

The process of restarting is described in OpenVZ User's Guide (page 71)
http://download.openvz.org/doc/OpenVZ-Users-Guide.pdf

Please check there that you did everything properly.
