I'm hoping some of the vz/bind experts can lend a hand here... We migrated our secondary DNS server to openvz and it is working great with one exception, can anyone shed some light on the following error?

31-Jul-2009 22:30:17.394 socket.c:1156: unexpected error:
31-Jul-2009 22:30:17.394 internal_send: 192.0.2.1#53: Invalid argument

The IP 192.0.2.1 is the gateway address setup by openvz.

[~]#uname -a
Linux 2.6.18-128.1.1.el5.028stab062.3 #1 SMP Sun May 10 18:54:51 MSD 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

[~]# rpm -qa | grep bind
bind-libs-9.3.4-10.P1.el5_3.3
bind-utils-9.3.4-10.P1.el5_3.3
bind-9.3.4-10.P1.el5_3.3

If there is any other information I can provide please let me know.

Thanks!

Hello,

have you asked bind developers about this issue?
What did they answer?
I looked through bind code though not very deeply and found that sendmsg() system call failed but it's still lack of information to make a decision.
Could you please strace bind and show the output that corresponds to the failing place.

Finally getting this info back to you...

Attached are 3 strace files, strace.out.19773 strace.out.19942 strace.tt. The first 2 were created using: strace -o strace.out -ff touch /usr/sbin/named and the .tt file was created using strace -o strace.tt -tt touch /usr/sbin/named

Thanks!

Hi, have you by any chance solved this issue ?
I have exactly the same issue here but couldn't find a solution yet.
Running latest 2.6.18-164.15.1.el5 OVZ kernel and the CT OS is CentOS 4.8 i386
Bind release is bind-9.2.4-30.el4_8.5
