Hi,

Has anybody tried using OpenVPN inside a VE in bridging mode?

If I call "openvpn --mktun --dev tap0" I get a "tap0" device which is only visible inside the VE. But inside the VE I can't use bridging as far as I know.

Is it somehow possible to create the device on the hardware node (and bridge it) and use it inside a VE?

PS: I really need bridging because I need non-IP protocols...

Maybe not as secure, but you could run openvpn on hardware node and then bridge containers together onto the VPN bridge? That way you can communicate using non-IP between containers over the VPN?

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, for now, I did exactly that. It works, but actually I really do not want to have OpenVPN running on the hardware node.

If there is any way left...I'd be very happy!

Maybe I could allocate `tap0' on the HN, bridge it approriately and somehow "export" it into a VE?! Is that possible?

Best regards,
