Hello World Smile

Big concern and hopefully you can assist.

on OpenVZ node host (Dual Quad Xeon (8 Xeon Cores), 6GB ECC FB DDR2 , 4 X 750GB HDD SATA RAID 10 Mirror), I noticed if some VPS Customer doing things like "account restore" in cPanel. It is effecting very badly on the whole host machine and also on other VEs as results of it. load goes high and Idle goes low.

I am thinking about options to optimize the I/O (ioprior) Per each VE so once some customer doing any action like account backup/resotore which is taking much of I/O resources, This will reduce load. And won't kill the whole VE host and VE customers.

There is around 11 VEs now active. each 0.5-1GB Ram.
many of them are small clients not resources hunters.

I need some solution to smartly manage IOPRIOR per each VE so it wont kill the whole machine / other VEs when some client decide restore account or do some thing like this which using much of I/O.

please suggest. Right now there is no IOPRIO customed at all on this VPS Host machine.

also suggest about best cpuunits/cpulimits/nproc settings per VE IF Possible. to reduce the overall risk for high load. I can tell mostly while no one doing any thing special like restore. The situation looks like this:

2:41pm, up 3 days, 8:49, 4 users, load average: 1.96, 1.68, 2.03
CPU [ OK ]: VEs 12%, VE0 0%, user 1%, sys 1%, idle 98%
Mem [ OK ]: total 11989MB, free 3064MB/0MB (low/high)
Slab pages: 0MB/0MB (ino 0MB, de 0MB, bh 0MB, pb 0MB)
Swap [ OK ]: tot 8189MB, free 8093MB, in 0.031MB/s, out 0.000MB/s
Net [ OK ]: tot: in 0.000MB/s 133pkt/s, out 0.000MB/s 165pkt/s
lo: in 0.000MB/s 0pkt/s, out 0.000MB/s 0pkt/s
eth0: in 0.000MB/s 133pkt/s, out 0.000MB/s 165pkt/s
eth1: in 0.000MB/s 0pkt/s, out 0.000MB/s 0pkt/s
sit0: in 0.000MB/s 0pkt/s, out 0.000MB/s 0pkt/s
Disks [ OK ]: in 0.000MB/s, out 0.000MB/s

BUT - if some one doing some thing like account restore, it kills it all. Load goes to 30-80 and idle goes to 30-10- and even 0.

Thank you!
