Hi there

I'm renting a virtual server (they call it virtual dedicated server...) with a special Debian Etch/Confixx package installed.

I tried to install Virtualbox to get a WinXP running.
The installation failed either on a missing kernel source or invalid kernel configuration file(?) or I get an 'operation not permitted' for a 'modprobe vboxdrv' (it isn't nmi_watchdog causing this). I tried it with 'apt-get install virtualbox-2.2' or with virtualbox-ose and make etc. No success...

I'm quite new to those things... but I hope that someone can give me a hint what to do...
'uname -r' gives me "2.6.18-028stab062.3-ent".

Is there a way to install Virtualbox in this environment?

Any help is very much appreciated!

Daniel

OpenVZ containers are not allowed to load kernel modules, so VirtualBox can't be made to function inside of a container without cooperation from the host.

You might try using QEMU, but performance will be most likely be bad.
