Hey Guys,

We are seeing a peculiar issue with one of our hardware node(host), the time keeps falling behind. We have NTP running in the server syncing time with time.nist.gov
The command below shows the lag in time after and before syncing it using rdate.

[root@myserver ~]# date ; rdate -s rdate.cpanel.net ; date
Tue May 19 13:54:35 PDT 2009
Tue May 19 14:21:28 PDT 2009

There are no relevant messages in the messages log. The kernel running in the host node is 2.6.18-92.1.18.el5.028stab060.8ent

Has anyone come across this issue ? We've had the manufacturer of the server look into this issue but they haven't found out anything else.

Any input will be much appreciated. Thanks !

Hi,

could you please tell us how long it takes your system to fall behind the actual time in a half of hour?

When did you issue the provided command? Just after the boot?

It's subjective and time lags by 5-10 minutes in 30 minutes time frame.

The server has been online for 8 days now. The command is being executed every now and then to determine the lag in time in the server.

As of now,
Quote:

[root@myserver ~]# date ; rdate -s rdate.cpanel.net ; date
Wed May 20 09:15:05 PDT 2009

Could show the output of

# cat /sys/devices/system/clocksource/clocksource0/available_clocksource
# cat /sys/devices/system/clocksource/clocksource0/current_clocksource

Hi,

I don't quite understand you.
Are you asking about the way making acpi_pm be a current clocksourse?

# echo "acpi_pm" > /sys/devices/system/clocksource/clocksource0/current_clocksource
