Hello everybody,
I was wondering about a problem I encountered with the updating of packages in a debian VE. Some time ago, I had to perform a check with lsof, and I discovered that most of my services were using stale and deleted libraries. You can see this by simply running:
lsof | grep deleted
I usually see just some lock files and such. But when I run this within a debian container, I get a long list (200 lines or so), like this:
apache 32193 www-data mem REG 254,2 106595314 (deleted) /lib/tls/libnss_compat-2.3.6.so (stat: No such file or directory)
apache 32193 www-data mem REG 254,2 106595307 (deleted) /lib/tls/libc-2.3.6.so (stat: No such file or directory)
apache 32193 www-data mem REG 254,2 106595310 (deleted) /lib/tls/libdl-2.3.6.so (stat: No such file or directory)
apache 32193 www-data mem REG 254,2 106595309 (deleted) /lib/tls/libcrypt-2.3.6.so (stat: No such file or directory)
apache 32193 www-data mem REG 254,2 106595321 (deleted) /lib/tls/libpthread-2.3.6.so (stat: No such file or directory)
apache 32193 www-data mem REG 254,2 106595311 (deleted) /lib/tls/libm-2.3.6.so (stat: No such file or directory)
apache 32193 www-data mem REG 254,2 106595279 (deleted) /lib/ld-2.3.6.so (stat: No such file or directory)
To fix, I manually restart the services, or I just restart the entire contained. But I was wondering what's going on here. It seems to me like those libraries were updated by the apt system, but the services were not restarted...
Cheers
