I would like to install CSF on one of my VM's but it' keeps giving me error for the ip tables test(see attached image) I have access to the host machine to do a proper setup as well.

You seem to haven't grant an access for the VE to iptables nat module.
Could you please read "OpenVZ user's guide", section "Loading iptables modules".
