Comparing the Ubuntu 8.04 template I made with the official one, that does boot, I see that I don't have an inittab. Is it possible that I am using an older version of OpenVZ or vzctl that doesnt support the non init compatible boot process in recent Ubuntus?

These are the versions I am using:
vzctl-3.0.18-1
ovzkernel-enterprise-2.6.9-023stab044.4
vzquota-3.0.9-1
vzctl-lib-3.0.18-1
vzdump-1.0-2
