Hi.

Is there any way to access host physical directory or partition from VPS?

Xen provides one via mapping, but I couldn't find any method to do so in OpenVZ.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks!

Any idea how fast this works, compared to HN regular writes/reads?

Regards.

if I understand the architectue of openvz correctly and there are no errors in the implementation it should be (almost?) just as fast because in fact there is just one kernel running and i don't think that such a mount uses a lot of overhead.

creating an uncompressed tarball of one of my web-apps (292 mb) took between 8 and 15 secs on the CT (@usual backround load) and just about the same on my HN. (same directory, done multiple times)

compressing the same directory did take longer on the CT, but I guess that depends on the CPUUNITS you assign your CT.

regards,
joe

edit: the output directory was the same where the web-app lies and I'm using a hardware-raid5/lvm setup.
