Hello.

In the past, we've used Dell OpenManage (OMSA) to monitor our physical servers. Now we're experimenting with OpenVZ running on a PowerEdge 1950, and would like to ask whether OMSA should be running on the host itself or in one of the containers (if this is even possible). Can anyone give recommendations on this?

Daz.

Hi

We run dell open manage on the hardware node.

I doubt it would run within a container as it needs access to IPMI interface to get hardware status.

There is no reason to run it within a container anyway as the hardware status applies to all containers.

It works fine with CentOS 5 and OpenVZ.

Yeah, we just needed to know how other people are handling this. Thank you for the info.
