Quota shows more usage than its really being used. [message #35036]

Hi there,

Its a weird issue with FS usage inside VE.

Take a look:
sovm103:/# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
simfs 2.0G 2.0G 0 100% /

It shows my FS totally full inside VE (100%, using 2GB).

But the real usage is:
sovm103:/# du -hs /
335M /

Someone knows what can be happening here ? Where can I check for "ghosts files" ?

Hello,

this also could happen if you've deleted some file but somebody is actually using it, so "du" would not see that file but "df" would do.
for example

Actually, I had a "Clean up routine" doing the following:

- Stop VE container
- Remove some old huge log files from $VZHOME/private/{VE}/var/log folder
- Start VE container again.

I think vzquota use some file in VE0 to store quota information and when I removed those logs with that VE down this info was not updated. Is that correct?

Hello,

firstly it worth checking
"lsof | grep deleted" output
then if
- Stop VE container
- Start VE container again
solves the problem.
