I'm not sure who builds the various kernel RPMs for the OpenVZ site but I have a request.

In the current vanilla 2.6.18 + OpenVZ patches kernel RPM, I see the following every 5 minutes on a Centos5 HE running 2.6.18-ovz028stab047.1-smp:

crond[28799]: pam_loginuid(crond:session): set_loginuid failed opening loginuid

According to the following URL, this is due to the CONFIG_AUDIT and CONFIG_AUDITSYSCALL options kernel options not being set.

http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2007-September/0867 33.html

In future kernels, could these options be set?

Ps. I'm not using the RHEL5 kernel + OpenVZ patches due to the seeming NIS+AutoFS in a VE bug as found in a different thread on the forums.

I recently updated my kernel to 2.6.18-92.1.18.el5.028stab060.2 and the errors described by dranch just started to show up.

I get two errors:
1. sudo keeps yelling:
audit_log_user_command(): Connection refused
2. crond moans every 5 minutes in the log:
crond[30778]: pam_loginuid(crond:session): set_loginuid failed opening loginuid

could it be that someone forget to set CONFIG_AUDIT and CONFIG_AUDITSYSCALL while building the rpm kernel?

I don't want to change my pam.d-config, it's a bad workaround. It did work fine before.

Hi,

yes, those warnings are due to absence of AUDIT.
We'll fix this in the future.

i'd emphasize that these are only WARNINGS.

It's even more important than reporting the problem itself...

well, thanks for the quick reply.

I will ignore those messages for now and hope for the next kernel to be fixed.
