I see a 2.6.26 and a 2.6.27 kernel. I was wondering how ripe they were and also, what is the point in having a 2.6.26 kernel when 2.6.27 is also available?

2.6.26 is currently more mature, while 2.6.27 is still more buggy.

The current plan is to fix 2.6.27 to be relatively bug free, and then phase out 2.6.24 and 2.6.26.

Note that 2.6.27 will be long-term maintained by mainstream, so we'd like to keep it for a while, too.
