Hi all,

Ve kernel 2.6.18-14-fza-686-bigmem, Centos 5

I'm trying to install glusterfs within a group of VE's that a third party hosts for me (so I dont have access to the host). Gluster is a userland file system that I wanted to use in place of NFS.

When starting, POSIX complains:

2009-01-27 04:30:48 C [posix.c:3604:init] brick: Extended attribute not supported, exiting

I think this is more to do with POSIX than glusterfs itsself and I think POSIX is having a problem with simfs. Anyone know how I can get around this, if at all?

Cheers
Craig

Seems that indeed extended attributes are not supported inside VE but I think they are also not supported on the HN i.e. partition that is mounted to /vz. Could you possibly check this assumption?

Filesystem features should contain ext_attr record.

Hello,

I have similar problem. I have HN with XFS and Gentoo and OpenVZ, and VE with debian and I am getting the same error (brick: Extended attribute not supported, exiting).

I think that I have extended attributes working on the HN.

Does OpenVZ (simfs) support extended attributes inside VEs? Should I enable them somehow before use?

Update: The problem I am having is with "trusted." extended attribute namespaces inside VE. Other attributes seem to work.

Update: Solved. vzctl set XYZ --capability sys_admin:on

BR,
Kris
