I just tried to compile a vanilla 2.6.18 kernel patched with http://download.openvz.org/kernel/branches/rhel5-2.6.18/028s tab057.2/patches/patch-92.1.1.el5.028stab057.2-combined.gz on a 64 bit CentOS-5 system. I enabled xen in the configuration, and when compiling, it dies with this error:

I've messed with some of the fs options trying to see if I could find one that caused the error, but haven't had much luck. Does anyone else have any ideas how to get around or fix this?

we've fixed the compilation and created a new development kernel with the fix.

I am running the 14 XEN kernel and would like to test the 57.2 XEN kernel if you have one has an RPM.

I don't see it in the download area.

I tried it and it is working! Thanks a bunch for the fix.

Sorry I couldn't respond sooner, as I couldn't log into the site for a while. I eventually figured out that my privoxy proxy was being a bit too aggressive with filtering cookies. I'm not even sure how I logged in in the first place!

Sorry for delay. Kernel has compiled successful with patches, but do not test it booting. I can check it later. Thx again.

Update: Booting and so on works ok too.

2.6.18-028stab057.2 is not the latest OVZ kernel available at the moment:
http://download.openvz.org/kernel/branches/rhel5-2.6.18/028s tab059.3/

So, please, try it and report back if your problem is solved with the new kernel or not.

Please, note, these patches are for 2.6.18-028stab057.2 kernel!

diff-include-cacheflush-20080806

But AFAIK these patches are already in 2.6.18-028stab056.1 and thus you've faced another issue. Please, file a bug for your issue and attach your config file.

EDITED here: surely if those patches are not in 2.6.18-028stab057.2, they are also not included into 2.6.18-028stab056.1, don't know why i decided that. Smile

Those patches aren't applied to 2.6.18-028stab056.1
I applied diff-quota-compat-20080806 and kernel compiled with default config (from vanilla kernel) Razz

I think that either this patch shoud be applied, either if some kernel options are requered, and compiling kernel without them don't make sense, it shoud check it's sanity before compilation.
