I'm running into a problem booting the OpenVZ kernel on a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H mb which has an AMD SB700 chipset. What I understand is that the ahci driver was updated to support SB700/800 in 2.6.24. When I boot the OpenVZ 2.6.18 kernel, no disks are recognized and booting hangs with a message about not finding /dev/root.

Anyone have advice on how to resolve this?

Hi,

does OpenVZ 2.6.24 work with your mb?

No. When I install the 2.6.24 rpm, I get a series of the following messages when I boot:

request_module: runaway loop modprobe binfmt-464c

Hi,

seems that you tried to boot x86 kernel on x86_64 node.
How did you install that OVZ kernel?
If you use yum you can specify arch by .x86_64 ending.

Oops. You're right. I installed the wrong rpm.

Yes, the 2.6.24.x86_64 rpm does work. Yaaa!
