Is there a reason to leave hal installed? [message #32762]

I'm running Ubuntu Hardy as a VE under a Centos 5 HN. I noticed when I did an upgrade on Ubuntu that hal got upgraded. Is there any reason I might want hal running on a VE? I'm tempted to remove it.
