Ext3 bug? [message #3195]

I am testing 2.6.16-026test009 on VMware 5.5
and noticed (maybe) one bug.

Ext3 recovering causes immediate rebooting.

I dont know which is wrong , VMware or your code or maybe me.
Just FYI.

Thank you for replying and I will make a test based on your instruction.

I reply you a quick answer focusing only to this point for now. -- Just no.

I complied it from source which was patched from yours
and made modules also.

And, it works if you do like this.

OpenVZ kernel without unmounting -> Normal Debian kernel -> OpenVZ kernel.

But, this crashes.

OpenVZ kernel without unmounting -> Same OpenVZ kernel.

But, I am not sure what is wrong, OpenVZ patch or other parts.

Can you check mainstream 2.6.16 kernel w/o OVZ patches please?

This is no info at all :(

Can you please do the following:

1) set up a serial port in your VM, and connect it to a file

2) configure serial console by appending

console=ttyS0,115200 console=tty0 debug

to the kernel commandline (in grub.conf or whatever boot method
you're using)

3) reproduce the problem and send in the resulting console log (the file
your VM's serial port was attached to).

BTW does it boot with the kernel bundled with your distro?

Tried and Okay.
I mean, it runs if I dont use OVZ patch.
So, the problem seems to be either of two.

1. OpenVZ has a bug about ext3.o or jbd.o
2. OpenVZ has compatiblity problem with VMware.

In your env, you have succeeded to do an ext3 recovering
from unclean unmounting?
