Hello,

Has anyone tried to use cPanel inside an OpenVZ VE lately? I keep on trying to install it into a centos4 x86_64 minimal VE. Whatever i do the install keeps on failing. I think it has something to do with perl588 installer from cpanel. Can anyone give me some hints here? Or maybe there is something cpanel requires me to do, prior to running the installer? (besides installing yum in the VE)

Thanks,
pengooin

It appears to be working fine in my test setups. What sort of error messages are you getting?

I have a custom rpm list I'm using for cpanel installations however, which is a modified version of the default one:

[root@node3 config]# cat cpanel.list
# $Id: default.list,v 1.2 2005/12/14 09:49:39 kir Exp $
#
# List of packages to be installed into VPS
# to form a "base" of Fedora Core 4.
#
# NOTE: if you change this file, you have to re-create OS template cache
# from scratch, e.g. run vzpkgcache -f centos-4.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.
I tried to use CentOS4 template. updated with yum.
However while trying to install everything that cpanel needs (groupinstall "Development Tools" as suggested on website) i always got into trouble because some rpms needed MAKEDEV/udev for example. Installing original MAKEDEV/udev may break things. In the end i contacted their support team and they did a test setup for me. I'll try to reproduce, since the steps they took are different from what i read on their docs page.
