[root@Char webvz.1.5]# vzpkgcache fedora-7-i386-minimal
Creating cache for fedora-7-i386-minimal OS template
There was a problem importing one of the Python modules
required to run yum. The error leading to this problem was:
/usr/share/vzpkgtools/vzrpm44/lib/python2.4/site-packages/rpm/_rpmmodule.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32
Please install a package which provides this module, or
verify that the module is installed correctly.
It's possible that the above module doesn't match the
current version of Python, which is:
2.4.3 (#1, Mar 14 2007, 19:01:42)
[GCC 4.1.1 20070105 (Red Hat 4.1.1-52)]
If you cannot solve this problem yourself, please go to
the yum faq at:
http://wiki.linux.duke.edu/YumFaq
ERROR: yum failed with 1 exit code
However, vzyum updates existing VEs just fine.

vzyum and building your own OS Templates via vzpkgcache has become more problematic as time goes by. I simply install yum inside all of my containers.
