How do I use yum on the host to update OpenVZ, such as the kernel and only get the x64 packages? I've had an issue in the past where it also downloaded and installed the i686 kernels, messing things up.

Managing the arch packages in Fedora 9 has supposedly gotten a lot better... but since many of us are running older distros without the more advanced arch control features... all you have to do is specify .x86_64 at the end of the package name and it will only install the x86_64 flavor of the package.

It might be worthwhile for you to cull through your installed packages and remove any iX86 packages you don't need... so future upgrades won't continue to update those... I think getting rid of any you can do without... and making sure to tack on .x86_64 to new package installs... will help keep upgrades from adding unneeded iX86 packages.

Feel free to give my advice a try and let me know how it works out.
