I've 5 HN and on every hardwarenode i've IDs like 100,101 and so on. If now one HN fails i would like to migrate the VE's to another HN. But normally the same ID is already in use. So my idea was to so something like 1-100 on HN 1, 2-100 on HN 2, and so on.

Is this possible or is there another solution?

Yeah we just thought ahead and created a host VE range for each server.
We have reach 9 now, so we are going to go with 1001, 1002 1003 etc
then 1101 etc.
should be fine.

Mhm we plan to have about 500 Hardwarenodes. I'm not shure if it is good to use VPS IDs like:

5000001 which is like server 500 ID 1. How big / high can a vps ID be?

not sure, but if you plan to have like 1000 VEs each on the 500 nodes, you might have the hardware and scripting ability to create a simple check...
that seems like alot of machines.
wouldn't Server 500, ve 1 be 50001?
Not sure what you are hosting, but even our servers with 32gb of ram wouldn't get much done with 1000 VEs on a node. 99 seems like alot (unless they are tiny of course, I am dealing with typical web servers/java vms! etc)
