Hello

I've installed and configured Open VZ by the book, I've made 4 containers. I can access them, and everything, they seem empty to me (they have empty folder root,etc,bin...etc), how do I "install" a Linux into a container? or is the container already a virtual Linux machine, if so, how do I configure it (personalize it)?

Hi,

Could you please show us the exact commands you've used to create container, access it etc.
Also "vzlist -a" command after you've created container.

Providing some logs can be really helpful in this case. I.e. the output of

vzlist -a
vzctl exec <CTID> ls /
vzctl exec <CTID> ls /bin

(here <CTID> is the ID of one of your containers).

vzctl exec 101 ls /bin:
arch
awk
basename
bash
cat
chgrp
chmod
chown
cp
...etc (shoul I continoue?)

I have asked you to show the output of ls / and ls /bin to see if there are some files in root and bin. Yes there are files in root and bin as you showed.

Now I do not get it. What is your problem?

I do have a problem. Smile

I have CentOS 5.1 installed and a virtual machine CentOS 4 minimal.

I can't use the vzyum?

any ideas why? Is it the CentOS 5.1 fault or something wrong with virtual CentOS 4?
