We are running CentOS 5 (2.6.18-53.el5.028stab051.1PAE), and we are using the precreated openvz templates - centos-5-i386-minimal.tar.gz

We tried to run
yum groupinstall "X Software Development" "X Window System"

However, it always throws this exception -
--> Running transaction check
--> Processing Dependency: udev >= 089-1 for package: hal
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
Error: Missing Dependency: udev >= 089-1 is needed by package hal

May I ask any way to work around it?
Thank you very much for your kind attention.

Regards,
George.

Hello,

The problem is that on centos-5-minimal udev package actually is not installed and our vzdev package provides udev capability.
rpm -q --provides vzdev
show us that we have only
udev = 084-13
. It is insufficient for us.
What can I suggest you:
1. If there is only this issue and you know additional parameter for yum to exclude udev verification you can use it.

2. Install appropriate udev package inside VE and remove vzdev package from inside the VE. Please look at this page after these operations!!!

P.S. There is an useful article http://wiki.openvz.org/X_inside_VE
I hope it will help you.

Thank You!
