Hi,

The above mentioned kernel, downloaded from openvz.org, in rpm format, does not have the drbd module. stab051.1 does not either.

The ovz028stab039.1-enterprise does.

Is this a change in the way the provided kernels will be built?

Best regards,
Gustavo.

I have just checked both kernels, they DO have drbk kernel module.

$ rpm -qlp kernel-enterprise-2.6.18-ovz028stab053.4.i686.rpm | grep drbd.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.18-ovz028stab053.4-enterprise/kernel/drivers/block/drbd/drbd.ko

$ rpm -qlp kernel-enterprise* | grep  drbd.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.18-ovz028stab051.1-enterprise/kernel/drivers/block/drbd/drbd.ko

Well, I'll tell you what I've done, and then we can try to figure out why end up not having the drbd module:

My system is Debian Etch.

First scenario:

I installed the kernel from
wget http://download.openvz.org/kernel/branches/2.6.18/028stab053 .5/kernel-enterprise-2.6.18-ovz028stab053.5.i686.rpm
alien -k -d kernel-enterprise-2.6.18-ovz028stab053.5.i686.rpm
dpkg -i kernel-enterprise_2.6.18-ovz028stab053.5_i386.deb

find /lib/modules/`uname -r` -name "drbd*"
... does not return any files.
... whereas when 028stab039.1-enterprise is installed, they do show:
/lib/modules/2.6.18-ovz028stab039.1-enterprise/build/include /linux/drbd_config.h
/lib/modules/2.6.18-ovz028stab039.1-enterprise/build/include /linux/drbd_tag_magic.h
/lib/modules/2.6.18-ovz028stab039.1-enterprise/build/include /linux/drbd_nl.h
/lib/modules/2.6.18-ovz028stab039.1-enterprise/build/include /linux/drbd_limits.h
/lib/modules/2.6.18-ovz028stab039.1-enterprise/build/include /linux/drbd.h
/lib/modules/2.6.18-ovz028stab039.1-enterprise/build/include /config/blk/dev/drbd.h
/lib/modules/2.6.18-ovz028stab039.1-enterprise/build/drivers /block/drbd
/lib/modules/2.6.18-ovz028stab039.1-enterprise/kernel/driver s/block/drbd
/lib/modules/2.6.18-ovz028stab039.1-enterprise/kernel/driver s/block/drbd/drbd.ko

Second scenario:

I have the following mirror in my apt sources.list:
deb http://debian.systs.org/ etch openvz

and do:
aptitude install linux-image-2.6.18-ovz-028stab051.1-enterprise
... and drbd module not listed with 'find' as above.

So, What am I doing wrong?

Best regards,
Gustavo.

Hi,

* in Debian the drbd Modules are shipped in seperates packages, so there's no need to built in kernel packages

* in Debian Stable (ETCH) the drbd version is a 0.7 but OpenVZ kernels have built in the drbd0.8 -> you need a backported testing drbd-utils packages !

So at debian.systs.org the OpenVZ kernel packages have no drbd module inside!

For a drbd kernel module on Debian OpenVZ :
-------------------------------------------
Fetch the etch (4.0) or backported lenny (4.1) drbd module packages and built the kernel modul!
