sftp / mount problem [message #27094]

I have the following setup:

directory /abc on the HW node

and a mount file for VE 2020

mount -n -o ro --bind /abc /vz/root/2020/home/backup/files

when I enter the VE and go to /home/backup/files, I see the content of /abc

when I log in to the VE with sftp (from a remote machine), I see /home/backup/files, I see the other files in /home/backup, but when I step in /home/backup/files/, the directory appears empty.

All files being chmod'ed to 777 to allow easy testing

Any ideas what to look at / for?

Hi,

Can you please specify kernel you use?
How did you log via sftp?
I do the same on 2.6.18-028stab053 and was success.

here:

$ uname -r
2.6.18-53.1.4.el5.028stab053.4

What I think really weird is that the files do not appear only with sftp but they appear with ssh...

Hi,

Have you made any changes on your system recently?
You might have added a new partition or something.
Does /abc locate on the peculiar partition?
Do you observe this strange behavior while mounting only /abc or it happens with other directories too?

No other changes, but it seems to happen to all folders outside of the VE that I mount so that they become visible from within the VE.

(I got hospitalized last Thu, and I'm still there so I can't do much testing but check email / forum))

I wish you get better!

Can you please tell us what exact OS template do you use for your VPS and what version of sftp inside VPS? If it is possible (inside VPS)

rpm -qa | grep ssh

What OS on the HN?
Have you changed any configuration files?

thanks! just got out yesterday Very Happy

here we go:

# rpm -qa | grep ssh
openssh-server-4.3p2-16.el5
rssh-2.3.2-1.2.el5.rf
openssh-4.3p2-16.el5
openssh-clients-4.3p2-16.el5

I'm running CentOS 5, using the minimal template from this site. And the HN is CentOS 5 too.

Is it possible that some of the rights that exist when logging with ssh get dropped / lost when moving to sftp? (just a random guess)
