Hi,

I am having trouble migrating to vlans. At present i am migrating my network from its old structure with no vlans and just using venet for openvz over to using vlans. As i give the openvz host a vlan i also give it a new ip and a new gateway. During the migration period i need the hosts to be able to talk to both old and new networks.
Routing wise this is not a problem the old and networks talk to each other ok.

The problem is that when i bring a guest up on the new VLAN it seems it can ping the gateway for about 10 pings then it looses say 100 packets then again it can ping for about 10 pings. I created the device in the guest using the -netif_add from the host and then bridged it with a interface on the host that that vlan membership. The other thing to note is that the host vlan does not have as for security reasons the host is to be on a different vlan.

Does anyone have any ideas how i can get this to be stable?
I am using the latest kernel build from here 53.

Mark

Doing a tcpdump on the hardware node on the interface that is for the guest veth187057.0 i can see the traffic being sent from the other hosts.
However if i do a tcpdump in the guest on eth0 then i see no traffic at all. So i guess the problem is the host if not sending the traffic to the guest and visvia. I do have forwarding turned on, on all interfaces?

Any other ideas?

opps I was not quite correct. Here is what i see with tcp dump

If i ping from an old host i see:
vzbr0 - bridge on host-
This can see ping requests from old 10.208 network, It can also see vlan traffic for its vlan

veth187057 - guest interface on host bridged with vzbr0
This can only see the vlan traffic and not the ping requests from 10.208

eth0 - device on guest
This sees nothing ?? It should be seeing the ping requests and replying and also the vlan traffic.

If i ping from the guest to the host i see:
eth0 - device on guest
nothing

veth187057
I see the ping request no reply and other vlan traffic

vzbr0 - bridge
i see the ping request no reply and other vlan traffic

eth0 of old device
i see request and reply correctly.
