Hi,

(I tried to post this to the mailing list shadow forum, silly me Smile)

Not strictly openVZ related (might be though), but we'd like to decrease the io priority of core file writing within ve-s.

We have over 40 ve-s per server. (we have 3 such dedicated servers right now BTW, with heavier virtualisation we would have went bankrupt by now over HW costs and electric bills)
An instance of our product is running in each for testing purposes. The load is high but manageable, as the application is not IO bound.
Unless an unstripped, debug build dumps core, sometimes multiple processes at the same time.
Core files can be huge, and starve other processes for seconds, resulting in watchdog timeouts and an avalanche of core files.

Now if only we could ionice core file dumping to "idle" priority, we could keep adding VEs (and memory Smile )

Any advice appreciated.
