Hi All,

I've installed openvz, but when I try /sbin/service vz start, I get the error message "failed to load module vzmon".

I have SUSE linux Enterprise server 10, and doing the installation I had 3 issues:

First, durign the installation of the kernel that there is for SUSE, I reeboted the machine in this kernel before doing the changed in the files /etc/sysctl.conf, /etc/sysconfig/selinux and /etc/modprobe.conf. I know, a little bit stupid...

Second, in my linux distro there isn't a /etc/sysconfig/selinux file. What do I have to do, ignore the parameter SELINUX=disabled or create this file ??

Third, in my linux distro when I open the file /etc/modprobe.conf I found quoted lines that say that I have to do the modifications in the file /etc/modprobe.conf.local. Is that correct, or do I have to ingore it ?

Thanks in advance for the help !!

Hi,

per default the vzmon (and other relevant OpenVZ) kernel module are loaded by vz init.d run-script, can you plz post output of "uname -a"

And the if I type dmesg, the last lines of the output are:

This is a known bug (http://bugzilla.openvz.org/714), unfortunately not yet fixed. Could you please remove vzmon from the list of modules to be loaded in /etc/init.d/vz script? OpenVZ works fine without it.

Hi kir,

I've disabled vzmon un the mentioned script, but when I create a VE from a cache following the procedure, I get the following error message:

vzctl start 101
Warning: configuration file for distribution mandriva-2006-i386-minimal not found default used
Starting VE ...
VE is mounted
Invalid kernel, or some kernel modules are not loaded
VE start failed
VE is unmounted

Thanks for your help !!
