Hello ,

I couldn't find any hint for moving my Debian Sarge real server to a VPS.

It would be useful to have an howto for Real to vitual migration.

Do you have any suggestion ?

Thank you
Paolo

Paolo,

doing P2V (physical to virtual) migration is very similar to the process of making a template (see HOWTO on debian http://forum.openvz.org/index.php?t=tree&goto=359&#m sg_359). The only difference is that instead of doing debootstrap you copy your server content to VPS private directory.

So in general, you need to copy the whole file tree of your server with 'cp -a' or rsync command to VPS private directory (e.g. /vz/private/777), create VPS config and tune init scripts/settings of the resulted VPS as described in HOWTO.
