This is totally not related to OpenVZ.

Despite the unclearness of your question I'd say:

- Yes, I think the kernel should handle that.
- The raptor are probably better, but it can depend.

You should write to a linux-specific forum or mailing list, not here...

1) kernel should have support for sata controller, in this case it will support disks attached to this controller.
2) currently linux have support for most popular sata controllers, therefore I expect you will not have any problems.
