Hi ,
Is there a way to backup also /var/log/* with vzdump
we recently moved a VE to another server with vzdump and the client of that VE complained that the logs are missing wich make lot of sence , iv also checked the availble swiches and didint notice anything relavant .

Thanks for any idea .

Hi,

vzdump, per default exclude some files excluded in directory,
like /var/log/ , /tmp/ , /var/tmp/ and /var/run/ ;
but you can override this feature, see man page of vzdump

--exclude-path REGEX

exclude certain files/directories.
Standard exclusions are disabled in this case.
You can use this option more than once to specify
multiple exclude paths.
