Hello,

I have such a headache right now with a new machine of ours, we have a server of the following specification;

2 x Quad Xeon 5335
4096MB RAM
4 x 147GB SATA Raptors in RAID 10

Now we've put RHEL 5 x64 on that machine, and a default UnixBench benchmark produces 727 points.

However when we load the RHEL 5 OpenVZ kernel, the benchmark value drops to around 596, which is quite a cut in performance.

I have no idea what is causing the issues, but have attached the benchmark outputs to this.

Are there any OpenVZ developers that are keen to have access to the server in question, to figure out why this is happening, I need to figure out what part of the OpenVZ kernel is causing such a performance cut.

The development kernels just don't help, they fail to boot correctly.

Chris
