Hey,

I have an OpenVZ based VPS server at SoftLayer.

As I see, they have internal nameservers which not works with VPSes.

[root@dlvpspl1000 vlan]# cat /etc/resolv.conf
nameserver 10.0.80.11
nameserver 10.0.80.12
[root@dlvpspl1000 vlan]#

What can I do to work with VPS?

because right now, I cant do wget or apt-get

Sincerelly,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

if you were given an internal nameserver which doesn't work, this is a misconfiguration, so it's better to ask an administrator to make it working.

4.2.2.1(2,3,4) are free nameservers, anybody can use them, but they can be located quite far from you and thus you can have a noticable delays during name resolutions.

Som from my point of view, setting such a global free nameserver is a possible temporary solution, but it's better to ask administrator to make internal nameserver working.
