dear OpenVZ people

have question

how limited the vps bandwidth

lets says i like to give 50 gb bandwidth for One vps

what command i must type for that option


vzctl set vpsid --**** -save

vzctl have no such ability, and it should not.

You have to use iptables accounting rules for the given VPS IP and some shell script run from cron which should check how much traffic is already taken, and block the traffic if the amount exceeds predefined value.

In short, that requires some programming skills. A neighbour sysadmin should know how to implement it.

If you need things like that and you do not know yourself how to implement such simple things - you should better buy Virtuozzo from SWSoft which is based on OpenVZ.

Or, I would add, hire somebody to do that for you. That's what I mean by "a neighbour system administrator" in my post above. OpenVZ (and Linux in general) is indeed more like a Lego -- if you know how to connect pieces together, have enough time and attitude -- you can build nice and sometimes even amazing things...

But if you don't know how to connect those pieces, or playing games is just not what you want to do -- either hire somebody who can play those games for you, or use a ready solution from a commercial vendor; it comes in a nice package and with support contract from a commercial vendor.
