Has anyone successfully enabled/used multicast in a VPS? Any best known methods on doing it?

Thanks,
Bryan

I'm afraid you can currently do multicast in VPS only in case you give the real device into VPS (using vzctl set --netdev_add command).

We have plans to implement another virtual networking device driver for OpenVZ, which will have a real MAC address thus could be used to do multicasts as well. No ETA yet, sorry Rolling Eyes

I suspected this was the case.

Thanks,

Check my HOWTO on hacking in a MAC address. Unverified (other than via tcpdump) for the multicast case, but should work. There's lessened security in doing so, but no less than if you had a directly connected server on the network.
