Hi, i just install openvz on a Fedora 3 based system.

The vz service starts up fine and if i download precreated caches i can get them working no problem.

I downloaded the fedora-3 rpm metadata to create a fresh cache, but when ever i try to run the cache command i get the following :-

openvz]# vzpkgcache
ERROR: Cannot create /vz/lock/10001.lck lockfile
ERROR: Can't find free VPS ID

there isnt any files under /vz/lock/ and when i tried touching a file called 10001.lck and ran the above again, i got the following :-

openvz]# touch /vz/lock/10001.lck
openvz]# vzpkgcache
Warning: Removing stale lockfile /vz/lock/10001.lck, pid=
ERROR: Cannot create /vz/lock/10001.lck lockfile
ERROR: Can't find free VPS ID

can anyone point me in the rite direction to solve this? or tell me if more info is required?

many thanks

Can you please

1. Check that there is 'lockfile' binary available. If not, please install procmail. Sorry for that; we should probably provide our own 'lockfile' implementation...

2. If that won't help, please run
sh -x /usr/share/vzpkg/cache-os fedora-core-3

and post its output here.
