Hi, Have been using openvz for a bout a year now with no problem. All of a sudden today. I started having errors with users connecting to a virtual node via ftp and uploading files. Users were unable to and were given an error local file processing. It turns out this this is the same for all the virtual servers. I thought it was diskspace but most were only at 50% the quota. When doing df command though all said they were at 100% used. A few reboots of the virtual host later and now when starting the virtual nodes, mysql will not run and I still cannot write files via ftp.

I can connect via ssh and copy files, i can also use wget and download files to these servers.

Any help greatly appreciated

I have done some updates to vzctl and vzquota, and now on the host node the df output is this

Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00
138851328 132642092 0 100% /
/dev/sda1 101086 73436 22431 77% /boot
none 514972 0 514972 0% /dev/shm

Before a few reboots ago the used on /dev/mapper/VolGroup... was only at about 67gb

One thing i did do was to change DISK_QUOTA=no and this i think has caused the hostnode to think its file system is full this is stopping any of the VE's from being able to write data at this time

Hi,

well, looks like you have no any other way but to find who ate the diskspace. The very first idea is to check logs - might be something in kernel (/var/log/messages) or any application went wrong and it began to write messages about the problem at a high rate and thus filled the disk.
At the same time if you did switch off the quiotas any VE user also could fill the disk.

Good luck in the search.

If your problem is solved - please, report it!
It's even more important than reporting the problem itself...

hi

Yes i did chaneg that setting and i think this is what has broken it. I re-read the install and it says about not doing this if the ve on the root directory tree which it was. I have given up trying to work out how to rectify this and am reinstalling after backing up my nodes.
