Can someone *please* show me how to create a Debian OS template for VIRTUOZZO. SWSOFT wants about $250 for this while Debian itself is a free OS in the first place.

Their documenation is plenty long, boring and difficult for an intermediate person. Please help.

I have no idea if this will help but take a look. It's how you make a template for debian for OpenVZ.

http://forum.openvz.org/index.php?t=msg&th=80&start= 0&

Good luck on finding someone to help you out Razz I guess you need to figure out if reading and understanding their guide is worth $250.00 Shocked

I found it on your site

Debian i386 version but when I do a wget I get nothing happening:

Please also confirm the proper install instructions. This page is confusing me between rpm, untarring, this and that Very Happy

Thank you very much for any help in advance.

PS: my node has Centos 3.6 installed. Using a Centos / Fedora 4 OS templates on VPS servers will not work on this node correct?

It doesnt get any easier than that HowTo Rolling Eyes

You need to see this post to get an RPM I created for debootstrap.

As far as the CentOS 3.x thing search this board for how to install OpenVZ on 2.4 kernel. I have never done it.
Good luck

Please explain which portion I shoudl run after the wget download. I'm not too savvy but can follow/learn your simple instructions and help. I appreciate it.

file downloaded:
debian-3.1-i386-minimal.tar.gz

I ran this:

[root@server001 template]# tar zxvf debian-3.1-i386-minimal.tar.gz

The ls -lh inside /vz/template showed no debian directory? This is where I did the wget and tar command inside this directory Sad Strange.

I'm not sure what exactly you are trying to do. If you have the pre-created template I would do this:

#cd /vz/private
#mkdir 101
#cp debian-3.1-i3 86-minimal.tar.gz 101/
#cd 101
#tar zxvf debian-3.1-i3 86-minimal.tar.gz

You should now have the minimal debian base layout inside 101

If you download the pre-created template you do not need to create you own debian template.

I'm not sure if Virtuozzo works the same as OpenVZ or if it uses /vz/private/101 for example. Hope this helps

Firstly, are you doing this in OpenVZ or Virtuozzo commercial product?

I'm sorry, I now see that you have mentioned virtuozzo in your first post.

Indeed, you should either try general linux support forums, or ask your virtuozzo provider (be it swsoft or any reseller) for support.

Most of us cannot afford commercial Virtuozzo so we use OpenVZ. Besides, other than not having the name "Virtuozzo," OpenVZ rulez Laughing
