Hi,

I tried to install the tool zaptel inside a VPS. I did make and got the following error:

grep: /include/linux/autoconf.h: No such file or directory
grep: /include/linux/autoconf.h: No such file or directory
make[1]: Entering directory `/root/zaptel-1.4.4'
/bin/sh: cmp: command not found
You do not appear to have the sources for the 2.6.18-8.1.4.el5.028stab035.1 kernel installed.
make[1]: *** [modules] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/root/zaptel-1.4.4'
make: *** [all] Error 2

It seems like the kernel sources are missing.

How can I use the kernel sources inside a VPS.

My host is CentOS 5 and guest is CentOS4 minimal.

Rgs,
schogge

No idea on this?

What I actually want to do, is to use a kerne module inside a VPS. As I understand, you always need kernel sources to use that modules.

Am I the only one who wants to do this. Or is it just not possible.

Thanks for any help,

schogge

Hi,

..
...
make[1]: Entering directory `/root/zaptel-1.4.4'
/bin/sh: cmp: command not found
....
...

Besides the fact, that you could copy the kernel sources from the HW-node you should install the missing applications first "cmp" in this case

Hello,

It is prohibited to load/unload kernel modules inside VE. So, kernel module should be loaded on HN! And then you can use appropriate tools inside VE.

HTH,
Vasily.

i can't get this to work. i used to be able to do a yum install ovzkernel-devel and install zaptel from source to get the necessary dependencies but now i can't. i also tried copying sources from the HN but that won't let me compile either. the modules are there but the asterisk is crippled without a working zaptel build inside the VPS.

were you able to get it going?

thanks!
