Hi.

I have a 3Ware 8006-2LP controller in my system, and have installed OpenVZ, I'm not a beginner in the slightest.

Now the kernel doesn't have a driver for this card, and by looking through the configurations I can only see an entry for the 9xxx card.

Does anyone know the entry for an 8xxx card so that I can custom compile the kernel so that the 3Ware Disk Management utility will work.

Chris

Hello Chris,

could you please post `lspci` and `lspci -n` output for this controller?
It will be also useful if you know any kernel which does support this controller.

Thank you.
Konstantin.

It was working on the default CentOS 4.5 x64 kernel, 2.6.9-55.ELsmp.

I just wanted to see if there is a workaround, 3dm at the moment outputs.

[root@fa-0-1 ~]# 3dmd
Error: opendir() failed - No such file or directory. Check if the driver is loaded.
[root@fa-0-1 ~]# Error: opendir() failed - No such file or directory. Check if the driver is loaded.
Error: Could not initialize 3ware controller.
(error code 0) (e003/0)

However it worked before installing the 2.6.18-ovz028stab035.1-smp kernel.

well, it looks i find the root of the problem:

http://www.ussg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0409.2/1833.ht ml

Quote:

The /proc/scsi interface is being deprecated by the SCSI subsystem maintainers.

Support for /proc/scsi/3w-xxxx has been removed from the driver and sysfs support has been added. Please download the newer 3dm2 tools from the 3ware software "In-Engineering Development" website, or, keep your older kernel and tools.

Hope 3dm2 will help. Smile

P.S. sorry, this might was not clear - the above words were not mine, this was a quotation from the link.
