Hi i tried to install openvz under opensuse 10.2 but with no luck. Is it likely in the near future, that you may release a ovz kernel for openuse 10.2? Thanks in advance.

First i tried to install from the following "official" suse repo:
http://ftp.opensuse.org/pub/opensuse/repositories/home:/open vz/openSUSE_10.2/x86_64/
It just totally hanged out during boot, however it loaded almost everything, mounted the file systems, started the daemons, etc but afterwards it just stopped i had to hard reset the computer because even ctrl+alt+del didn't work.
After that i tried to use kernel from
http://download.openvz.org/kernel/branches/2.6.18/stable/ker nel-2.6.18-ovz028stab035.1.x86_64.rpm
i installed it with "rpm -ivh -nodeps kernel..."
with this one i was able to boot but the boot was full with errors and in KDE the mouse didn't worked at all, however the keyboard was ok, so i switch back to a console but i wasn't able to do anything...
I will send a more detailed error report on this second case, just first i have to reboot
Anyway, thank you for your effort helping me to solve this issue.

It seems i screwed something. I installed it with --nodeps and run mkinitrd
I edited grub menu.lst and rebooted i choosed the ovzkernel and it said:
Error 13: invalid or unsupported executable form
strange it probably because the previous ovzkernel.
I tried to rpm -e --nodeps ovz-kernel... but it just didn't work
/var/tmp/rpm-tmp.66929: line 1: /sbin/new-kernel-pkg: No such file or directory
error: %preun(ovzkernel-2.6.18-8.1.4.el5.028stab035.1.x86_64) scriptlet failed, exit status 127

1. OpenVZ Kernel problem: (on openSUSE 10.2)
The same goes for me. I'm also Suser that wants to get a good OpenVZ, SUSE-compatible kernel, but unfortunately I get only a dozen of non-working kernels.
The RHEL5 kernel is one of them - on SUSE, modprobe *cannot* find it's own modules, even I know they exist.
Some modules metadata lacks in the kernel, so it prevents from SUSE Linux to function.
BTW: is "initrd" should be inside the RPM, or the user needs to create one ?
2. integrating OpenVZ with openSUSE - I really would like to see good integration between openSUSE and openVZ.

Thanks a lot Vasily.
To get more info, you can read some of my posts of the past:
http://forum.openvz.org/index.php?t=tree&th=2446&mid =12562&&rev=&reveal=
http://marc.info/?l=opensuse&m=117819085209106&w=2
Currently openVZ is tied *very closely* with Red Hat, but I would really like to break this RedHat-centric monopol.
The monopol is felt very well, when I start reading openVZ official documentation and it's success stories with CentOS/RHEL/Fedora/... and tips about those OSes.
What's wrong with current situation:
1. *none* of the kernels available on the net works with openSUSE 10.2. or 10.3 Alpha. Not even VZ kernel from openSUSE 10.0.
2. OpenVZ Documentation is absolutely RedHat centric.
I'm going to *fix* that one - once I will get a stable openVZ/ openSUSE-compatible kernel, I will try to write the necessary documentation for openSUSE. I plan to have this documentation available as part of openSUSE distro, and I have no plans to integrate this documentation upstream, into openVZ itself, but I may change this plan if asked.
Once my documentation will become part of openSUSE, it will be easier to direct Susers to my documentation, rather than official documentation.
3. What else may I do to improve the terrible lack of integration between openVZ and openSUSE ? (I'm non-developer)
