After clean installs of Fedora Core 3 and then Fedora Core 4, my NIC won't work when booting to the OpenVZ kernel (2.6.8-022stab034.1). On boot, udev fails and eth0 fails with:

network-functions: line 187: /proc/sys/kernel/hotplug: No such file or directory

When I boot the FC4 kernel, /proce/sys/kernel/hotplug does exist and points to /sbin/hotplug

Has anyone seen and overcome this issue?

Thanks!

As I understand FC4 network scripts, this error is harmless unless your NIC requires some firmware to be loaded.

I suspect the problem is your NIC is not supported by openvz kernel (i.e. support for it is not compiled in).

So can you please tell what NIC do you have (lspci output, grep eth0 /etc/modprobe.conf), and we will see.

you can rebuild kernel with the appropriate driver yourself.
we probably will add it to config a bit later.
