Вы совершенно правы, изнутри VPS этого сделать действительно нельзя. поскольку внутри VE блокируется запуск kernel threads.

Однако при старте VPS запускаются mount-scripts, и они могут смонтировать внутрь VPS все, что доступно на ноде.
