Hello,
I've created a CentOS 5 template based on centos-4-i386-minimal.

To create the template i've used the following steps:
Quote:

1 - Create a VPS with centos-4-i386-minimal
2 - Download the files to /vz/private/VEID/
centos-release-5-0.0.el5.centos.2.i386.rpm
centos-release-notes-5.0.0-2.i386.rpm
initscripts-8.45.14.EL-1.el5.centos.1.i386.rpm
3 - Enter in VPS
3 - Update the first two packages
4 - Force initscripts install with --nodeps
5 - Import the new RPM-GPG key
rpm --import http://mirror.centos.org/centos/RPM-GPG-KEY-CentOS-5
5 - Exit from VPS
6 - Change vps config file
OSTEMPLATE="centos-4-i386-minimal"
to
OSTEMPLATE="centos-5-i386-minimal"
7 - Upgrade the remaining packages without issues
vzyum VEID upgrade
8 - Delete .rpmsave and backup files from VE
9 - Create the template Smile

Template is available for download here

Hello,

Thank you very much!

Can you, please, create a small article at wiki.openvz.org about creating Centos 5.0 template?

Thank you,
Vasily.

Article created
http://wiki.openvz.org/Centos_Upgrade_4.x_to_5.0

I've added the 'ugly' solution for the udev problem

Edit: Also solved the udev problem in my template

Thanks!

Hello,

Your link doesn't work at the moment: http://www.ptxl.net/files/centos-5-i386-minimal.tar.gz, where else can I download this precreated template?

Thank you,
Vasily.

I took it down and uploaded the new templates built from metadata
/vz/template/cache/

http://www.ptxl.net/sspt/files/centos-5-i386-default.tar.gz
http://www.ptxl.net/sspt/files/centos-5-i386-minimal.tar.gz

My first metadata rpm have the problem with vz-addons and i didn't create a new one, just edited the files and created a tarball (i'm a bit lazy this week Rolling Eyes )
untar in /vz/template/centos/

Any chance on a metadata rpm ?

I looked in the wiki also (the page for upgrading centos 4 to 5) and i couldn't find instructions on what needs to be modified on a centos 4 metadata to make it work for centos 5.

Is it enough to change the 4 into 5 in the repos urls ?
