I have seen varying linux shutdown behavior on different motherboards. Does "shutdown -h" kill the power when using a non openvz kernel on the same physical server?

Hello,

have you compiled OpenVZ kernel by yourself? I know that some kernel config option (related to ACPI - Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) affects it.

HTH,
Vasily.

Hmm... you said, when using a non-OpenVZ kernel on the same physical server, "shutdown -h" does kill the power. And what is the version of this non-OpenVZ kernel?

It's really strange, in all configs of prebuild kernels ( http://download.openvz.org/kernel/branches/rhel4-2.6.9/023st ab044.4/configs/)
ACPI is turned on! :/
