Just wondering what the OSTEMPLEATE="fedora-6-i386-minimal" means in the conf file other than what template you started with. Does that setting invoke some kind of functionality?

OSTEMPLATE in /etc/vz/vz.conf means default value for vzctl create --ostemplate.

value of OSTEMPLATE in /etc/vz/conf/VEID.conf is used by vzctl to perform some distribution-specific manipulations with VE (such as adding an IP address to proper VE configuration files).
