It looks like the yum service (daily yum -y update) doesn't work on openvz VE, even when enabled. Is it normal?

okey, whats the output of the yum launched via cron? You can log the output and/or mail it to yourself.

yum -y update 2>&1 | mail -s "yum cron output" you@domain.com

One thing to check for is if the directory yum live in, is in the cron program's PATH.

Bottom line, we need to see an error message to propose a solution.
